THE CREATIVE FIGHT

It takes a strong will and a bold heart to battle through the minutes, hours, and days it takes to create art. Maybe this is why A.I. is so fascinating to some new and upcoming creators. The pace of the work is slow and can be intense. It is definitely time-consuming. Becoming the organized mind, desk, and space. The inspiration, motivation, and dedication to finish what you started, or even to continue a project, and so the fight begins—the creative fight.

Miguel de Cervantes once said that “too much sanity may be madness and the maddest of all, to see life as it is and not as it should be.”

Enter the creator. The Artist who holds the mirror up to a reality we all agree to and try, then, to create some fantasy or drama, some reflection of happiness, warmth, depth, a thought in a moment that brings back an experience you may actually have forgotten about. But it’s all fiction. We can walk into that world knowing it is fiction, and how wonderful it is when the magic happens, and that creation becomes a part of your soul, a feeling you’ve been missing. A connection you’ve been longing for, but never knew you needed at the time. All of a sudden, a few problems you were facing are answered in a small way that leads you down a road of forgiveness or joy, laughter or tears.

The creative fight is not just for the creator, but also for the watcher, the reader, the consumer. I’ve only read one book by Jack London, and that was “Call of the Wild”, which was required reading in 12th-grade literature class. A beautiful story of loss, growth, and adapting to a life not chosen. The genius of this work is that the main character, a dog, learns how to accept his fate and turn it around, and becomes the victor in the end.

“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” ~ Jack London
